BH4J 2: You know what, I take that back. They should be able to say what they want in school and out. Saying something about drugs isn't using drugs and isn't against their policies, and neither is talking about religion. The statement made no sense anyways so who cares. Why should the principle get so angry. Sure, it was a couple of her students, but it wasn't her holding up the sign. She as an individual can be angry, but she shouldn't be angry because she rules over them in school. Free speech should be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Bong Hits 4 Jesus? What the hell does that mean. This was surely a drug related case they HAD to be on drugs when they made that sign. This is going back to the Hooters T-shirt thing. Was it innappropriate for that banner to be hung. In most minds it was just weird, but is it the schools job to punish. I say if they are with the school, they represent the school so the school should be able to punish them for showing their school in that light. If they had taken the day off of school, then that would be a whole different story.
I believe that a national I.D. card is a huge waste of money and time. Yes, it would solve some problems, but people always find a way around things. It would standardize everyone far too much, and it would leave the founding fathers rolling over in their graves. We already have drivers licenses, and passports, and social security cards. Do we need something more that is going to cost our country more. Oh, and might i mention we have a gigantic defecit. Good timing!

Article: I found this article to be very good. If the bush administration were to listen to Machieavellie's principles they could possibly guide themselves out of this war in the best of ways. "The way men live is so far removed from the way they ought to live, that anyone who abandons what is for what should be pursues his downfall rather than his preservation." This is so true. The president does not live or act as he would in another situation where he would be put to the test for his country.
President Bush's approach to Tehran must be guided by three Machiavellian principles:
1. Self-reliance;
2. The importance of being feared; and
3. The need to take the initiative once conflict is inevitable
If he could follow these, he would make so many different decisions. good article.

Machiavelli: Chapter 23
Chapter 23 pertains to flatterers and a princes objectivity and need to get opinions. Machiavelli explains that a prince should not make all decisions, but make diplomatic decisions among his people, asking for their "honest" opinion of him and his decisions. He goes on to explain and instance where Emperor Maximilian did not take advice from his people, and this could only breed contempt and disclosure of thought. If a prince is not open to all thoughts then he will not see all of the picture and then he will fail to govern in an effective manner. It was a great chapter indeed.

In this section, Machiavelli explains many aspects of being a prince. How do control his people buy figuring out their character and devising a way to use them in a way that suits them and you. He explains how a prince must lay a solid foundation, but one that he can rule over and crumble, if he must do so. He explains about armies and peoples different jobs. "Mercenaries and Auxiliaries are at once useless and dangerous." Auxilaries can cause a prince much trouble, because with a loss by them, your army is gone and you are to be defeated, but if they win, they will expect to be treated very very well, and this may cause a military coup if a prince doesn't give them what they want. One of the last parts of this section speaks about how a prince should focus all of his time on war, not just being in war, but how to prepare for war, how to handle themselves in war, building an army, and other things. If a prince has these things all in line, he with surely never lose. A prince must be engaged with his army, and keep them well trained and happy with them. They should believe in the cause as much as he does. A prince must be everything. Condtradict himself he may, but he must be everything.
