Torture at Guantanamo

The acts that are being commited by the U.S. Government are acts that, in my mind, are torture. Putting someone in a dark cold room for days without food and playing loud music to keep them awake is cruel and should be defined as torture. Torture should not be something a lawer defines to fit his clients needs, no matter if his client is the U.S. Military. Torture should be something you feel, as a human, is not right to inflict on another human being. Maybe the military needs to go back to first grade and relearn the idea that you should "treat others the way you want to be treated."
Another question arises from this. Why are we keeping these people imprisoned when they are not even tried yet and wont be for a very long time. It is unjust for us to be going this. It is also cowardly to imprison someone and keep them there because you need information, when they have done nothing wrong. What happened to a speedy and fair trial? I believe that concept is lost in the U.S. Government today.
